Happy??

     I Think So ?

Oblige me with this short little outburst of some recent thoughts that have been flying across that small and warped mind of mine. I hope I don’t offend anyone, but if I do, it is not personal. But lets think about some more modern thinking facts about happiness:

  • You do know when we work less we are happier. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that happiness will not come from more income.
  • It is fairly common knowledge that when people have an annual income of about $10,000.00 per capita, increasing their income passed that does little to make them happier.
  • Did you ever think that when you work harder to improve your income, and feel better off by consuming more, you most likely are making the neighbors feel worse off as their relatable income has become less now.
  • A key to happiness is to live appreciating what we have, rather than what we want. Wanting things makes people unhappy.
  • Did you ever stop to think that an extra dollar in a poor persons pocket is worth alot more than an extra dollar in a rich mans pocket. On a global basis, it has been stated that in fact it can be up to 10 times more value to the poor person.
  • I personally think that a dollar is worth the effort and time put into earning it.
  • Some folks believe Happiness is not what you have but what you give. What do you think?
  • I think that just a little passed having some level of basic comfort, Happiness is derived from having a purpose.
  • I am not sure this world we live in can keep supporting our need for consumption much longer. matter of fact, I believe we are entering a time of scarcity. However, that can be a good thing if it forces us to depend on things that are purposeful and life changing.
  • A life of continual consumption is a dead end. There is a much more meaningful solution to happiness.
  • Let’s take a break from worrying about Gross National Product and start focusing on about Gross National Happiness.
More to come,

Where Did it Go?

Do you remember this teenage girl and the “Steroidial Extraterrestrial ” Zucchini?

Cave Men Killed With This Thing

Well, what happened to that monster? It became the World Famous “Out of this World Zucchini, Banana, Coconut, Pecan, and Sour Cream” bread! I know most of you have had Banana Bread, Zucchini Bread, Coconut Cake, and Pecan Pie. Now just envision it all mixed together into a bowl and then baked into the most delicious, moist loaf of bread you have ever tasted. Next time you have the family at home for a rare spend the night occasion, wake them all up at 8:30 am with the smell of this baking in the oven. You have never seen lazy, sleep deprived, apathetic kids jump up so fast. Are you ready? Get your pencil and paper out:

1. Grate 2 1/2 cups of fresh zucchini into a bowl

Grated Zucchini

2. Smash 3 overripe bananas into a bowl

Smashed Bananas

3. Mix zucchini, bananas, 4 beaten eggs, 3 tsp vanilla, 1  1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup sour cream all together

Wet MIxture

4.Combine dry ingredients of 3 cups AP Flour, 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup toasted coconut, 3 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp baking     soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Dry Mixture

5. Combine wet and dry mixtures into one bowl and mix well. Pour into 2 crisco greased and thoroughly floured loaf pans. Bake on 325 for 1 hour. Check with that toothpick you have been picking your teeth with.

In Process

6. Let cool down for about 30 minutes. Then pump your chest out and watch it slide out like a greased pig.

P.S. Serve with 100% cold homogenized milk only. Absolutely no 1% and 2%.

Sorry, Have to Brag A Little Bit

Look At Me!

Boy, I hate to do this. ‘Cause I know most of you are just going to sit back in your stinkin’bad-posture desk chair, and mumble to yourself, “Look at him….just sitting in his own stinkin’ bad-posture desk chair, bragging!” Well too bad. I don’t really care and I am proud for a change (usually I feel embarrassed, ashamed, dumb….just ask my kids).

It has been a few weeks since I showed you my jardin….. that is French for garden for all of you slightly red neck folks like me. Something weird is going on in this place. Everything I am growing is 5 times bigger, 10 times bushier, and 20 times more fruitful than all my neighbors. It has gotten to the point where I am a trying to go there and work when the other folks are not around. They just look at me like I am a Martian on steroids.

Picture 1: Zucchini

It is really that big!

This is a 13 year old girl named Kristen. She is pretty tall for her age. She has a large smile. Her hands are big for her age as she is a great volleyball player. As you can see, the Zucchini she picked from my garden last week is extremely big. It measured over 22 inches in length and 6 inches in diameter. This is no joke….right Kristen?

Picture 2: Beets (One Day Haul)

Borscht Anyone?

The problem with this many beets in one day is that not to many people like them. But I do fortunately as you have read in the past.

Picture 3: Green Onions

Alot of Bad Breath

Picture 4: Todays Beans

Beans Beans Good For The Heart….

Ok, that’s enough bragging for one day. I know most of you have thrown up in disgust by now. But this is what is coming out of my little hole in the ground each day. God is really doing his thing in my jardin.

The Maldives Islands

I don’t know where this place is. But it appears to be in the some Ocean off the western coast of South America.

Middle of Nowhere

It really doesn’t matter. If you are really like me, you don’t care where it is, you just want to go there. Before you start getting excited, which I know you will Taylor, George, Bill, ……..Diane!!!….(kids you can’t go but you can visit if you can afford it. I heard they have kitchen help positions open) let me show you why I picked this spot.

We will give bronze hue to our snow white skin here.

We will sleep in to 10:00 am here.

Strange things will happen in this bed.

We will get sand in our cracks here.

Simple Stuff

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

Leonardo da Vinci

HMMMMM???

Pretty interesting quote, huh? I don’t know about you but I am sick and tired of Fancy, Complex, Intricate, Overdone, Flashy, stuff.

I am really starting to get into, appreciate, and love simple things, especially simple common sense solutions and ideas that make a difference without all the expense, complication, and in-your-face-brnding. I thought I would share just a few examples of what I am talking about. Maybe it will inspire you to come up with your own idea or simple invention. Or maybe it will inspire you to support one of the below shown companies by purchasing one of their great products. But most importantly, hopefully it will just make you slow down for a moment, take a deep breath and start thinking and living simple.

Simple Yet Great!

1.

Nuts?

Take a simple Walnut and rub it on scratched and dinged furniture.

2.

Surround Sound

A simple Bowl amplifies your Smartphone’s sound system to create your own speaker system.

3.

Uh Oh!

Using a simple pair of panty hose over your vaccum cleaner can find lost items like an earring or wedding ring.

4.

Tapi

Squeeze and Spit

A simple piece of rubber rinses your mouth to perfection and cleans your toothbrush without using your germ- infested hand as a cup!

5.

You Gotta Try This!

All-Purpose King

I haven’t been blabbing too much about Grilling and the mouth-watering Barbeyaki Grilling Sauce, but the weather is warming up, the days are longer, and I am hitting the BBQ again. I think I concocted something you have to try on your own. If you want to be known as the King of the BBQ in your city, this one will do it for you. Believe it or not, we are going to bake on the grill. And what we are going to bake is Barbeyaki Sour Cream Corn Muffins. Crazy huh?

Lets start with what you will need:

IngredientsThe Stuff

  • 5 slice(s) bacon crumbled
  • 1 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup(s) yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup(s) sugar
  • 2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) frozen corn kernels, thawed
  • 4 large scallions, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup(s) sour cream
  • 4 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup Barbeyaki Grilling Sauce

In one bowl put all the dry stuff and whisk it real good to mix all of it up. In another bowl whisk the eggs, sour cream, and melted butter together.

Pour the batter in those little paper cups thingys and place them in a 12 muffin pan. Then run out to the BBQ, set them on the indirect portion of the grill and close the lid. Then pray, relax, and wait 20 minutes. Recommendation: Have a nice little Toddy of Jack and coke while relaxing. Then open the lid and Looky There!

Too Easy

Lastly, Suck up a bunch of Barbeyaki Grilling Sauce in a cooking syringe and squirt it right in the center of your muffin. Then bite and die!

You be the BBQ king of the city

What you see is……NOT…….what you get!

I think y’all know that I love to ramble about seeing the best, the most, the good, and the beauty in everything. It truly makes life on this Earth so much more interesting, happy, and fulfilling. I thought I would show you a series of photographs that I love. They are all very different. But have so much in common. Let me know what you think.

Drip, Drip, Drip

There is something about water that is mesmerizing, especially the drop! Just one after another in perfect harmony. The sound and repetition can put me to sleep.

I love the sound and feeling of a breeze. To sit back and watch the ocean breezes whipping the sea grasses back and forth and back and forth is like being rocked my your mother to sleep at night.

Back and Forth

Love reflections! One reflection in a pond can generate thousands of images. This unusual reflection looks like a zebra pattern to me.

So Many Possibilities

I absolutely love patterns, especially in natural God made things like this piece of what looks like Granite or Marble. The free-flowing motion of their veins is so unique.

One of a Kind

And one of my most fascinating hobbies is to look for new and different shapes. You know they are all around us if we just stop and look.

Volcanic Circle Shape

But what if all of these beautiful, interesting, unique pictures could be looked at anytime you wanted by looking at yourself in a mirror!

Open Your Eyes!!

Looking Out for you
